These reference pages are furnished by the
Texas State Championship Enduro Circuit for the purpose of improving the quality
of all of our events. If you are a "first time" event chairman, you are
encouraged to read through these pages as they will answer a lot of questions
you may have. Do not let the volume of information intimidate you. Instead, take
things one step and one job at a time. These pages are catalogued separately so
that you may download and print out any item that you want for distribution to
your various club chairmen that may be responsible for specific jobs. You can
also download them into your own word processor and modify or change to suit
your own clubs particular situation. These are not meant to be the final word or
the only way to promote a good event, but they are compiled from clubs and
promoters that have had good success in putting on Enduros.
Even if you are a "seasoned veteran" at promoting events, you can still use this material to
distribute to your various helpers to help them in their jobs. Many of your new
club members do not know how to properly mark a trail or work a check point.
Print out the appropriate section and distribute it to the proper people and you
will be giving them 20 years of experience. It has been my experience that most
people that help at our events want
to do a good job, but many times they have not been properly trained to do the
job assigned to them. Use these pages as educational material for those
inexperienced helpers.
Divide the responsibility for the event into
several co-chairmen to help take the load off the event chairman. These are big
events. They need to be ran like a business for a day so you must delegate some
authority to co-chairmen. Also, be sure
and read the current TSCEC Rulebook. The rules and guidelines in that book were
not written to make things difficult or harder. On the contrary, these rules
were written by Texas riders and clubs to solve problems, promote safety, and
insure equality at all events as much as possible. The rulebook, in itself,
offers a lot of insight in how to properly promote and run an Enduro.
